The picture of the scene shows a huge eruption of black smoke rising in the sky behind the houses. 

Eight fire trucks have been sent to the scene and firefighters are working to extinguish the flames.

Firefighters advise people living or working nearby to keep windows and doors closed as a smoke precaution. 

Residents share photos on social media showing that large amounts of smoke fill the sky.

Some people reported seeing smoke from miles away in southeast London.

One tweeted that he saw a fire from Sidcup. 

Another said, "I was a few miles away and I was a little worried. Keep the crew safe."

Kent Fire and Rescue Service said, "Currently, the crew is working on a fire on Birchwood Road in Dartford. Firefighters live nearby or as a smoke precaution. I advise working people to keep windows and doors closed. "

The Kent Fire Department later joined the crew of the London Fire Brigade (Begin Hill, Opington, Ellis). We worked on a large-scale fire with support. 

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue said: Sent to the scene, firefighters are working to extinguish the flames.

"The crew is currently advising people living or working nearby to keep windows and doors closed as a precautionary measure against smoke from the incident."
