How to get cigarettes and alcohol delivered to your home

SHOPPERS can get cigarettes and alcohol delivered to them via takeaway apps - we explain how.

You can order booze and fags alongside other groceries and essentials from online delivery services like Deliveroo and Uber Eats.

These companies have partnered with a number of corner shops and supermarkets, and you can order your shopping through their apps.

In Deliveroo, you'll find a "grocery" tab when you log into the app where the delivery service lists all its convenience store partners.

As well as local stores, Deliveroo is also now working with supermarkets including Waitrose, Co-op and Morrisons - all of which are selling cigarettes and alcohol.

While Uber Eats has big supermarkets like Asda and Sainsbury's.

If you have one of these supermarkets near you, you'll find them under this tab.

How can I get cigarettes delivered?

Both Uber Eats and Deliveroo can be downloaded for free on Google Play or the App Store.

To set up an account, you'll need to enter some personal details, like your address, and your bank details too, so you can pay for your shopping.

Then, head to the grocery tabs in the apps, and type in the type of cigarettes you want.

Add it to your order, and then check out.

Some shops may also have limits on how many packs of cigarettes you can order - but this will vary from store to store.

You might also have to spend a minimum amount of money in order for your order to go through - so if you're just looking to pick up something small, it might be best to head to a local store instead.

Deliveroo also brings up a message if you're ordering age-restricted products, saying you may be asked for ID if you don't look over 18.

In Uber Eats, you can search "grocery" under the meal options tab, and it'll bring up a list of your nearest stores that are delivering.

Each store will have different delivery fees and sometimes a service charge, so make sure you check this before placing your order.

Again, you may be asked for ID, so have it to hand when your shopping is delivered.

How can I get alcohol delivered?

Getting alcohol via Deliveroo and Uber Eats works in the same way.

Simply type in what you want, and add it to your order.

On all alcohol products, Deliveroo and Uber Eats says you have to be 18 years old to purchase so you may be asked ID from your delivery driver if you look under-age.

Uber Eats also says it won't deliver alcohol to anyone who is already intoxicated.

The Sun found several stores selling booze listed on Uber Eats, including Asda and several Nisa shops.

While you can buy your alcohol from corner stores and supermarkets like Sainsbury's and the C0-op on Deliveroo.

We've asked Deliveroo and Uber Eats how many corner shop partners it has and we'll update this article when we know more.

Do prices vary?

When The Sun checked today, some prices for booze and fags were more expensive on Deliveroo than they were if you bought them directly from the supermarkets' websites.

A pack of 20 Mayfair Sky Blue Cigarettes from Morrisons was £12.79 on Deliveroo, but £11.85 on Morrisons' website.

Shoppers can also buy booze from Sainsbury's - but while a bottle of Casillero Del Diablo Carbernet Sauvignon costs £8 on Deliveroo, it costs £7.50 on the supermarket's website.

Prices will vary when it comes to corner shops.

Independent and smaller chains are likely to charge more than the supermarkets.

You'll also be charged a delivery fee per order, which again will vary depending on where you shop and how far away you live.
