Life was never easy before Autumn came from a guide dog charity.
Laura was born with retinitis pigmentosa.
After being diagnosed at six months of age, Laura's vision deteriorated gradually and she went blind in 2006 at just 25 years old.
``Up to that point, I was able to manage my vision problems, was educated, and worked in a factory. After being deported, I had to give up my job for safety reasons and found myself on benefits for the first time in my life.”

"If I wanted to live a better life, I needed more support."
Laura said she became a guide dog in early 2015. We got in touch, started the application process, received a number of evaluations, and were placed on the waiting list.
Although she grew up with dogs in her family, she never had a dog herself. “I knew I would love and cherish my guide dog if I was lucky enough to get one, but I never imagined the incredibly unique bond we would form.” 69}
By 2016, Laura matched Fall. They took the time to get to know each other and Laura received intensive training in how to be led by a dog and what commands to give.
"That first night, I sat on the floor and hugged her and put her head in my lap. I really couldn't believe it was mine and I felt so lucky," recalls Laura, Operations Support Coordinator.
