I live in a van with my two kids and ‘unschool’ them, people say they’ll never get a job but I don’t care

A MUM has been slammed for 'unschooling' her two children, with people claiming they will never get jobs.

The mum revealed in a TikTok video that she 'unschools' her children while they travel in a van.

The woman, who posts under the name Simple Natural Mom on TikTok posted a short clip of her children at the beach on what appears to be a weekday when most are in school.

She wrote: "Why aren't your kids at school on a weekday?"

In response, the mum wrote out the lyrics: "Our world is slowly dying I'm not wasting no more time."

"We want as much time with them as we can get," she added in the caption of the post.

The mum revealed in her account bio that she unschools her children while using gentle parenting techniques travelling in a van.

She responded to a comment explaining what unschooling was.

The mum wrote: "It’s a form of homeschooling where you follow the child’s lead when it comes to what they learn rather than telling them what to learn & how to learn."

Plenty of people asked the mum how her children would be employable with her way of teaching.

One wrote: "I get it if they are homeschooled but without school they can't get a job and will probably end up homeless."

A second asked: "How are they learning?"

A third penned: "This is cool but what comes to when they want a job and don’t have any grades? Do they still do exams and stuff."

Despite some of the backlash, many people praised the mum for her schooling technique.

One person added: "The education system needs to realise that grades aren't everything and they are ruining children's lives from stressing."

The mum replied: "100% agree. My child’s mental and physical health, among many other things are so much more important."

Another wrote: "Love spending more time with my daughters instead of sending them to public school for hours."

A third said: "Honestly that's so valid by the time they're adults the world is gonna be gone."
