I went to Winter Wonderland in the daytime and it was a completely different experience – there was hardly anyone there

A WOMAN who visited Winter Wonderland before it got dark thought it was a totally different experience – and hardly anyone was there.

The TikTok user known as “Hollylillian24” took to the social media site to show her impressions of the site.

The brief clip starts off with a shot of the festive site along with the caption: “The reality of Winter Wonderland during the day.”

It shows a few people walking along what appears to be the main route with attractions either side.

A number of Christmas lights span across the main path but these aren’t switched on.

Instead of the usual festive sparkle that helps attract thousands of visitors in the run up to Christmas, it all looks rather drab and far from festive.

Certainly, the grey sky above doesn’t help either and it all looks rather lacklustre.

The footage then cuts to an attraction called the Magic Circus which at least adds somesort of sparke with its brightly-coloured flashing neon lights.

Sadly, though, this is contrasted with just a solitary figure walking past.

The camera then pans around the site and while there is some life to the place, it’s a far cry from the usual buzzing atmosphere and crowds seen at Winter Wonderland at night.

Even in the area serving up food there are only a few scattered groups of people sitting around while most of the tables are empty.

While it may all look rather dull and uninspiring, the TikToker clearly was having a good time and captioned the clip with: “Still love it though.”

One commentator wrote: “Going at night time just adds a lil razzle dazzle to the experience.”

A second added: “See that’s why nights better.”

While a third person asked: “Why would people wanna go during the day?”

Not everyone agreed though and a sizeable number of commentators thought it was actually better during the day, if only for the lack of crowds.

One person wrote: “The lack of crowds, my type of heaven.”

Another chipped in with: “I went in the day a few years back and it was so much better. No crowds, no queues. Was great.”

A third said: “This is the best time to go.”

Last month, many visitors to the Winter Wonderland in London’s Hyde Park slammed the event due to its high prices.

Many customers were left not wanting to return after price hikes saw hot dogs costing an eye-watering £10.50 and fish and chips on sale for £14.

What was once known as a reasonably-priced family fun day out could now cost parents around £40 to eat before you even have a drink or go on the rides.

Amid the cost of living crisis many have dubbed it "expensive and overpriced".

The Sun Online visited the market where two small bags of pick 'n' mix cost nearly £20, candy floss was £8 and a potato on a stick was £7.
