Virginia actor Chu Gallagher dies 'surrounded by loving family'

Veteran actor Chew Glover, best known for his iconic role in The Virginian, has died at the age of 93.

Glagger also appeared in the 1985 horror comedy The Return of the Living Dead.

He has starred in films alongside some of Hollywood's greatest actors, including Ronald Reagan, Paul Newman, Lee Marvin, and John Wayne.

His John, son of Gulager, shared a photo of his father on his Facebook as a tribute.

Gallagher's daughter-in-law, Diane Goldner, released a statement from her family saying he died "surrounded by a loving family."

"He was humorous, an avid reader, sweet and kind. Loud and dangerous." , which spanned seven decades, beginning with small guest appearances on television series in the 1950s.

His Gulager, a mainstay of TV westerns, starred as Billy the Kid on NBC's The Tall Man.

He also appeared in Peter Bogdanovic's The Last Picture Show in 1971.

His last credit was in Quentin Tarantino's his 2019 film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Gallagher played Deputy Sheriff Emmett Riker in The Virginian, appearing in 104 episodes.

His breakthrough on the big screen came with the movie Killers.

It turned out to be former President Ronald Reagan's last film, and the Gallagher character was the last person to be shot before Reagan entered politics.

This film is based on a short story by Ernest Hemingway and was the inspiration for "Pulp Fiction"

Gulager was proudly part of the Cherokee.

His father, grandfather, and grandmother were enrolled in the Cherokee Citizen's "Daws," or Final Assignments, Rolls completed in 1906.
