But did you know that there are unwritten rules of etiquette that you may actually be violating when texting friends and colleagues? We consider it rude to call or sendmessagesafter 9:00. Debrett's etiquette expert Liz Wyse shared her thoughts on the issue onThe Mirror, explaining the mistakes we've made with our cell phones and what we should do instead. increase.
She said: "It's generally considered disrespectful to text or make a phone call late at night. There is no absolute deadline, but for most people this is after 9pm.

"The main reason for this is that people start to unwind by about midnight. So it's rude to drag them out of their bedtime routine."
"Many people find it difficult to put up with replying to emails, and late at night email conversations are too stimulating.
It's generally accepted that looking at a screen late at night is bad, but why impose your bad texting habits on others?
``Even if you are very careful and put your phone on silent, you may still be disturbed by vibrations and bedside table screens.''

"When that starts happening, you can get stuck in a vicious cycle of feeling like you have to respond to late-night emails from your boss. I fear it," she warned.
"This is really detrimental. It would be much better if employees and co-workers were completely away from work until late at night. With a few exceptions, no one is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
"For most people, a late-night e-mail or phone call means they've been ambushed by an uncaring friend or colleague, or bad news about a friend or family member who can't wait until morning."
"Most of us recognize the surge of anxiety and fear we experience when we are awakened by a phone call late at night. I certainly don't want to burden you unnecessarily."
Experts added that there is one exception to the late-night text rule. If there is prior agreement that texting after 9pm is acceptable.
But otherwise you will have to wait until morning to launch messages after 8:00 am.
"Of course, there are exceptions to this rule. If you are a true night owl and have a friend who is also an insomniac, they may have agreed to accept late-night text messages.
``If you feel the urge to text late at night, be patient. (Good, but on weekends it might be better to leave it for an hour or two later.)
