THIS is the jaw-dropping moment a fighter jet travelled at 800kph and narrowly missed a bridge in a death-defying mid-air stunt.
The images showed an Aussie F/A-18F Super Hornet flying over Brisbane's Story Bridge.
They were snapped as the Australian Air Force airplane practised earlier this month for the Brisbane Riverfire festival.
In the shots, one spectator is seen trying to take a selfie rather than watch the flight in real life.
Photographer Nino Lo Giudice, who snapped several shots of the spectacle, said: "The photos were taken from a six level apartment rooftop in New Farm.
"Having shot the same shot before, this was special as it had workers on top of the Story Bridge, an iconic bridge in Brisbane, and as well as it had been raining in the morning, so lots of moisture in the air, which created the vapour trail over the aircraft which made it all that special."
"The plane must be about 150/200m from people. It's flying at around 700/800kph."
Aviation website Australian Aviation claims the plane flew within 70 metres of spectators.
Every September Brisbane plays host to the Brisbane Festival and Brisbane Riverfire, a festival of the arts.
Having Aussie fighter jets "weave" between Brisbane skyscrapers has become an annual event.
The event draws an estimated 500,000 attendees each year.
