Juan Mata 'rejected MLS offer'

Former Manchester United star Juan Mata has turned down an offer from MLS despite not having a club yet.

Midfielder Mata hopes to continue playing at a high level in Europe, so he reportedly refused an American club after leaving Trafford.

The 34-year-old finished his time at United this summer, but he is still without a club as campaigns are underway across the continent.

The respected Spanish sports paper Marca reports that he is "patient" in what is likely to be the final chapter of his illustrious career.

The former Spanish winger believes he still has the quality to play in the elite league, even though he's played very little football for United in recent seasons.

And although he is said to be approaching his next move "patiently," he has no intention of lowering his level.

Marca reports that he is still full of "enthusiasm."

Mata has made 285 appearances and scored 51 goals for Manchester United, in addition he has won FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League medals.

He recorded 41 of his caps with the Spanish national team and won his World Cup and Euro.

But he doesn't seem to be a fan of his MLS. MLS maintains a arguably unfair position as the retirement home of waning European stars.
