Judge orders partial opening of Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago search affidavit

A federal judge told the Justice Department that part of the probable cause affidavit used in the search for former President Donald Trump was ordered to be opened. He ofis the house of Mar-a-Lago.

"In my first careful review … there are parts that can be opened," Justice of the Peace Bruce Reinhart said Thursday afternoon.

Reinhart said he would "give the government a full and fair chance" to redact parts of the document, with a deadline of next Thursday.

The judge's decision came after a top government lawyer argued that releasing the documents could jeopardize the "early stage" investigation.

The "detailed and rather lengthy" document contains information about a "substantial grand jury" and must be kept secret, said Jay, the Justice Department's counterintelligence and national security officer. Mr Bratt said.

Mr Bratt said the case had "national security nuances" and was "unique."

Charles Tobin, an attorney at the media organization promoting the desealing, argued that the search warrant was of great public interest. The August 8 raid was "he one of the most significant law enforcement events in the nation's history," he said.

"Now is the time to get everyone right," said Tobin.

Trump attorney Christina Bob was in court but did not plead.
