King Charles and Olena Zelenska opened a new welcome centre at a Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral in London yesterday. The British monarch and Ukrainian First Lady met with staff, volunteers and displaced families from the ex-Soviet state.
Charles' visit came after Lady Susan Hussey, who was one of the Queen's most senior courtiers, was forced to quit amid a race row involving a British-born woman who runs a black women's domestic abuse charity.
Buckingham Palace said it took the "unacceptable and deeply regrettable" incident "extremely seriously".
The welcome centre has been established to assist Ukrainians arriving in the United Kingdom.
It will also provide Ukrainians with a place to stay connected to their culture and heritage.

The centre is located in the heart of central London and is just a stone's throw away from Bond Street.
In an update on social media, the Royal Family said: "His Majesty The King has been joined by the First Lady of Ukraine to officially open the new Welcome Centre at the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral in London, where together they met staff, volunteers and displaced families from Ukraine.
"Designed to help Ukrainian nationals arriving in Great Britain, the centre is a point of contact for all essential information on arriving, settling, and long-term living in the UK.
"It also acts as a social hub helping Ukrainians stay connected to their culture and heritage."

Ms Zelenska described meeting King Charles as a "great honour".
In a post about the welcome centre, the Ukrainian First Lady added: "Great countries are measured by great humanity. Convinced once again: Ukrainians are welcomed by friends, whose welcome is sincere."
She added: "While travelling abroad – [it was] essential to meet Ukrainians and make sure that everything is fine.
"[I] was glad to visit Ukrainian Welcoming Center in London, where refugees are helped with accommodation and adaptation.

During her visit to the United Kingdom, Ms Zelenska also addressed MPs in a busy committee room in Westminster.
She compared Russian invaders to Nazis and demanded justice be brought to Ukraine.
She said through a translator: "Ukrainians are going through the terror, which will resonate with you.
"Your islands survived the air raids, which were identical to those that Russia uses now to put us on our knees.
"We're hearing sirens every day identical to those which were heard by earlier British generations.
"You did not surrender and we will not surrender.
"But victory is not the only thing we need. We need justice."
