King Charles III 'to be officially crowned on June 3' in London coronation

King Charles III will be officially crowned as monarch at Westminster Abbey on June 3 next year, it is claimed.

Government officials say plans are pointing towards holding the ceremony on that Saturday at the beginning of summer, according to Bloomberg sources.

Charles' mother, Queen Elizabeth II's coronation was heled almost exactly 70 years earlier but next year's ceremony is expected to be a much smaller affair.

The Daily Star contacted Buckingham Palace for a comment and a spokesperson neither confirmed or denied the accuracy of the date but instead dismissed it as "purely speculation".

The Queen died at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland on September 8, prompting 10 days of national mourning in the UK.
