A 12-year-old Lanarkshire girl jumped out of a first-floor window after being assaulted by girls

A teenage girl was seriously injured after jumping from a first-floor window after being attacked by two 12-year-old girls.

The 17-year-old victim suffered a broken bone. When she hit the ground she hit her pelvis and her wrists.

The incident occurred on Glen Cleland Road, Craignook on April 19 last year.

A young girl, now 13, and her 16-year-old accomplice were acquitted by a jury this week of pushing a victim through a window, seriously injuring her and endangering her life.

However, they were found guilty of assaulting a teenage girl before she fell and stealing her mobile phone.

The verdict followed her four-day trial in Hamilton Sheriff's Court.

The alleged victim said she was a resident of a nursing home and traveled to see her 12-year-old friend, who she believed was 16.

The defendant was told in court that she was reported missing from the nursing home. Two people said they were angry with her. I don't want the police to come to my apartment.

She claimed she had been hit multiple times and tried to escape, but her door was locked and she was attacked again when she went to the bathroom.

A witness told Alice Carey:

``I was pushed down by the window.

"Then I lay on the ground and called for help. I tried to get up and I couldn't get up.

She was hospitalized for over three weeks and underwent surgery on her wrist and pelvis. She undergoes physical therapy.

She said: "I am on the waiting list for reconstructive surgery on my pelvis.

"In the last few months the pain has gotten worse and I have trouble walking far.

It was thought that she had jumped out of a window. The teenager replied: she was pushed.

Neither defendant provided evidence, but the court heard a 12-year-old girl say when police officers questioned her:

Both suspects admitted to threatening or abusive behavior on a train traveling between Motherwell and Whishaw on the same day.

This 13 The 12-year-old boy also admitted to assaulting three passengers and pulling an emergency lever that prevented the train from leaving the station.
