Liverpool's new attacking picture gives Jurgen Klopp options ahead of vital run

Jurgen Klopp will be able to pick from all five of his star attackers when Liverpool take on Brighton this weekend.

The Reds have not begun the season like they'd hoped and find themselves nine points off the summit as they look for some consistent form. They have not played in the league since a Merseyside derby draw with Everton four weeks ago, by which point the majority of their attacking options were available to them.

Club-record signing Darwin Nunez led the line with Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz either side of him. Diogo Jota appeared from the bench as Liverpool sought a winner, but rarely this term has Klopp been able to call upon that attacking quartet. He's also, for much of his tenure, had a front three that have picked themselves. Now, such is the competition, rotation comes easier.

The departure of Sadio Mane leaves a sizeable void that their current personnel must now fill. Finding the necessary combinations will take time, but Liverpool already find themselves behind the eight ball. Jota has epitomised the Reds' struggles as he's battled injury this term. He scored whilst away with Portugal and is now primed to make an impact having been battling for match sharpness in recent months.

Nunez, after scoring on his debut, was sent-off in his second game following a clash with Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen at Anfield. It means he's only been able to feature in three league games as he looks to get up to speed with the English game amid mounting pressure, largely down to his hefty price tag.

Salah, despite only scoring twice in the league this term, will command the right flank, which leaves Klopp picking two from three when it comes to Diaz, Nunez and Jota ahead of the clash with the Seagulls. Roberto Firmino has also found the net three times this term, but remains a squad player with his future beyond this season unclear.

What is clear, though, after several postponements in September, is that Liverpool's fixture list is only going to get more and more congested by the week. Already, clubs are having to adapt to a unique year that sees a mid-season break for the winter World Cup in Qatar.

Klopp will also have to find space for a further two matches after the postponements following the death of the Queen. Liverpool's game at Anfield on Saturday afternoon is the first of six in the space of eight days. The Reds, after Brighton, have back-to-back games in the Champions League against Rangers. They've also got massive games to come against Arsenal and Manchester City.

A game with West Ham, who are struggling, rounds off a hectic period in which Klopp will have to use his attacking resources effectively if he is to negotiate the period between now and mid-November.
