Liverpool transfer round-up: Man City hatch Jude Bellingham 'plan' as PSG enter race

Jude Bellingham looks like he's the most wanted man on the planet.

The Borussia Dortmund star has continued to flourish in Germany having left English shores in 2020. Several Premier League clubs were interested before he left Birmingham, but the expectation is that the midfielder, who is currently starring for England at the World Cup, will return.

Liverpool opted not to add a major new face in the middle of the park in the summer, instead choosing to sign Arthur on loan. The Brazilian has struggled with injury and Jurgen Klopp's options in midfield have been tested amid criticism over their summer decision.

These are the latest rumours relating to the Reds' transfer activity.

City's Bellingham-Grealish plan

Manchester City are among those also keen on Bellingham, but know he will cost a pretty penny. The champions negotiated with Dortmund last summer to sign Erling Haaland and could look to raid the German side once again.

Pep Guardiola spent big to add Jack Grealish in 2021 - making him the most expensive British player in history when he paid Aston Villa £100m to acquire the playmaker. He's been unable to make the desired impact however and Football Insider claims they could cash in.

Offloading Grealish would free up cash for City to pursue Bellingham, who will cost north of £100m. Selling Grealish would also help those at the Etihad balance the books.

PSG also keen on Jude

The competition continues to heat up. Liverpool cannot compete financially with City and the same can be said for the Parisians, who have long asserted their financial dominance since their Qatari owners arrived.

Le10Sport claim PSG's sporting director, Luis Campos, is now pushing for a big money splurge to land Bellingham. The midfielder may prefer a return to England if he does leave Germany so the French champions would have to deliver a convincing argument.

The lure of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and possibly Lionel Messi could certainly do the trick - especially if Dortmund open up a bidding war and are prepared to let Bellingham join whoever is prepared to spend the most.

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has insisted that the Reds will remain one of the world's biggest clubs regardless of who owns the Anfield-based outfit.

Last month saw the first sign of reports that current owners Fenway Sports Group had placed Liverpool up for sale and instructed Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs to oversee the process of finding interest that would be willing to pay the £3.7bn price-tag.

Van Dijk has said on any potential takeover: "I have full trust in Liverpool that they will be fine. We are a very established club, one of the biggest in the world and that will stay that way. Whoever comes in to fill in those roles, they will do very well. I am aware of everything that is happening."
