MAFS UK star April Banbury breaks silence after 'husband' George Roberts' arrest

April Banbury, who tied the knot with George Roberts on E4 show Married At First Sight has broken her silence following his arrest.

Reality TV star George, 40, was arrested last Thursday on suspicion of controlling and coercive behaviour after three of his ex-girlfriends alleged that he was an 'emotional abuser'.

The dad-of-four from Worcestershire is facing a police investigation over the allegations of harassment and coercive control.

Speaking to The Mirror, a spokesperson for Met Police said: "A 40-year-old man was arrested by Met officers in Worcestershire on Thursday, 29 September on suspicion of controlling and coercive behaviour.

"He was taken to a Worcestershire police station and subsequently bailed to return pending further enquiries.

"This follows an allegation of controlling and coercive behaviour and harassment reported to the Met on Monday, 26 September."

Financial adviser George has denied any wrongdoing and has been bailed by Scotland Yard.

George wed former Miss Great Britain April on the popular E4 show after his three exes made complaints of his alleged emotional abuse to the police.

The Married At First Sight UK experts paired George with April Banbury, and the pair immediately hit it off when they met for the first time at the altar, on the Channel 4-run E4 show.

Following George's arrest, April has now broken her silence for the first time.

The brunette bombshell appeared to ignore George's arrest as she shared photos of herself heading out to dinner with her dad and a close friend.

April shared an image of herself holding up a champagne glass as she toasted to her father and friend over dinner.

It comes after the former model reportedly returned to her London flat after dumping husband George following the 'emotional abuse' allegations made against him.

George's three ex-girlfriends made independent complaints to police about his alleged 'obsessive', 'manipulative' and 'abusive' behaviour, according to The Sun.

The three women were allegedly left 'horrified' after seeing George in trailers for the current series of the E4 match-making show.

After raising their concerns with police, the three women claim their worries were ignored by officials and Channel 4.

They each allegedly told police that the financial advisor 'love-bombed' them by showering them with affection and gifts before they claim his behaviour turned 'coercive and controlling'.

George is a father-of-four from Worcestershire who has denied all allegations made against him.

A spokesperson for Roberts said last week: “George categorically denies these allegations.

"As a father of daughters he finds these accusations deeply upsetting and does not condone abuse nor behaves in that way.

“These allegations were never brought to his attention, investigated or taken further by the police for good reason as they are simply not true.”

Meanwhile, Channel 4, which runs E4, claimed rigorous checks were made on the contestants and 'any allegations of this nature are taken extremely seriously'.

A spokesperson told The Mirror: “We work incredibly closely with our production partners to ensure all Married at First Sight UK contributors are subject to rigorous background and psychological checks, including the most detailed police checks a production is able to undertake.

"Any allegations of this nature are taken extremely seriously by Channel 4.”

The Mirror has contacted George's representatives as well as Channel 4 for further comment.
