Massive fire at Scottish ex-care home, residents 'deliberately' evacuated, police say

Police have confirmed that the massive fire that blew up a former Scottish nursing home is being treated as deliberate.

Residents near Frank Downey House in Clydebank were evacuated from their homes at 9:30 pm on Saturday, August 6.

Six fire engines rushed to the Ottawa Crescent site and firefighters fought the fire during the night. Stunning drone footage revealed the extent of the blaze, with ferocious flames filmed crashing through buildings and smoke billowing above and across the area.

Scottish Police confirmed that no one was injured. Officers are asking anyone who may have witnessed "something suspicious" in the area at the time of the incident to come forward.

Clydebank CID Detective Constable Colin Nicol said:

"A joint investigation between the Scottish Police and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is underway, and anyone who sees anything suspicious before or after the blaze has requested contact.
