71-year-old man found dead in Scottish town with serious injuries

Police confirmed the death of a man seriously injured in a air this lunch break.

A 71-year-old man was found on the town's River Street shortly before noon.

Unfortunately, a fatality was confirmed at the scene despite a massive emergency response.

An air ambulance made an emergency landing at Ayr Racecourse as part of the response, but failed to save the pensioner.

Police blocked the road while an investigation was conducted and confirmed the death was not being treated as suspicious this afternoon.
