Man caught on camera ‘shoving six-litre keg of Tennent’s lager down trousers’

A gasping Glaswegian has been spotted stuffing a six-litre keg of Tennent’s down his trousers.

The cack-handed heist happened at a Nisa Local store two days ago.

Staff uncovered the crime when they noticed a batch of the popular Scottish lager was missing and reviewed the store’s CCTV.

The hooded man can be seen standing by an open fridge while attempting to conceal the bulky container down the front of his joggers.

Employees called the police who say they are now investigating the incident and have a name of a suspect.

A worker who did not wish to be named said: ‘If somebody is struggling or in need, we’re a family owned business that has been here for nearly 40 years.

‘All they need to do is come speak to one of the family members that’s always on the premises.

‘If you need baby formula or nappies or milk or bread, we’ll help you out – but if you’re trying to steal a six litre keg of Tennent’s, it’s not a crime of need or desperation.

‘We wouldn’t be having a conversation right now if someone stole something that they needed but couldn’t afford – baby formula or a packet of nappies being the perfect example.

‘But when you’re coming in to attempt to take what is essentially a luxury item, not something you need to survive, not to mention the verbal and threatening abuse that our staff members, who were on the floor at the time, got when they were trying to stop him.

‘Thankfully the police now have a name.’

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed a man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

They said: ‘At around 6.20pm on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, police were called to Craigbank Drive after a man was being verbally abusive.

‘Officers attended and a man has been arrested. Enquiries are ongoing.’
