Scooter rider in his 80s dies after being stabbed in bright light

Police are seeking witnesses following the stabbing of an elderly scooter rider in Greenford, west London.

London Metropolitan Police have confirmed that a horrific incident occurred today (Tuesday, 16 August) at 4:06 pm.

Police were called to Caton Road, Greenford, after several reports of a man being stabbed.

Detective Chief Inspector Jim Eastwood of the Metropolitan Police's Crime Specialist Command said:

"If you were on Western Avenue A40 Eastbound near Cayton Road and Welland Gardens between 15:15 and 16:15, for those with drive recorder or cycle helmet footage

"At the time there was an elderly victim on a scooter in the area. Please be sure to get in touch if you do."

The London Ambulance Service told MyLondon:

“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, medics in fast response vehicles, and incident response officers. We also dispatched a London air ambulance.

", despite the best efforts of the crew, one person was confirmed dead at the scene.
