The suspect, a 39-year-old man of his, was arrested in connection with all incidents.

Scottish Police have confirmed that the rampage began on the Isle of Skye before continuing on the mainland in Wester Ross.

Police later found her 32-year-old woman seriously injured in her home and airlifted to Glasgow for her medical assistance.

About 30 minutes later, a gun blast was reported at another facility in the Teanghe district of the island, about eight miles away.

A 47-year-old man was found dead shortly afterwards.

The violence then spread to the mainland, with another shooting in Dorney, a rural area on the west coast of Scotland, connected to Skye by a road.

A man and a woman were taken to hospitals in Inverness and Broadford for treatment of "serious injuries." but did not disclose details.

Chief Superintendent Conrad Trickett, Highlands and Islands Local Police Commander, said:

``We want to reassure people that these incidents have been contained and are being treated as if they pose no threat to the general public. There will be a significant number of police on the scene, and we will work with our partners to help the community.

"As our investigation progresses, we appreciate people's cooperation. Ian Blackford, SNP MP for Ross, Skye, and Lochaber, wrote on Twitter:

As it became clear, the response of emergency services seems to have stopped the incident from escalating further.
