Manchester United line up Gladbach keeper Jan Sommer as David De Gea's No2 after dismal start to season

Manchester United are reportedly gearing up to sign Borussia Mönchengladbach goalkeeper Jan Sommer.

Sommer, 33, is lined up to challenge current United No1 David de Gea. The

Bundesliga veteran has one year left on his current contract and is attracting interest from numerous premier clubs in his league.

According to German outlet Brick,Eric ten Hag is eyeing Sommer after De Gea's early season slump.

This information was echoed by Fabrizio Romano, who also revealed that United have a list of his three shot-stoppers to target.

Romano also confirmed that "Gladbach has signed a new three-year contract with the Swiss national team.

De Gea's A dismal performance against Brentford as he conceded two goals for his side Ten Hag began looking for a new keeper.

In contrast, Sommer has conceded only half of De Gea's goals, as his side beat Hoffenheim 3-1 and drew 2-2 against Schalke in a season.
