Man whose hand was 'cut off' outside club thought attack was 'prank' by peers

The man who cut off his hand with a machete outside a club ``thought he was joking''.

Tuesday (August 9), two men wearing balaclavas attacked a man in a smoking shelter outside the Dayton Working Men's Club in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, around 5:30 pm. .

When the witnesses heard a 'squeak' and saw his hands on the ground, they rushed to his aid.

The man was taken to hospital with a "severe injury to his arm," and doctors later tried to reattach his hand, reports Yorkshire Live.

Today (11 August), West Yorkshire Police announced that a 17-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the attack.

"Consider putting up a security gate at the back of the club so people can't get in like it was on Tuesday night.

"I know the people involved put their hands back and I hope he's okay. When the last one ran in here in February, , it was the same two girls who helped him.Clearly they are traumatized by this event.”
