Meghan Markle has been 'driving force' behind explosive Netflix series, says insider

Ahead of the release of the first three episodes of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's explosive Netflix series, an insider has revealed exactly what viewers can expect the couple to open up on.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex look set to reveal all about their lives and intimate details of the Royal Family as part of their £110 million deal with the streaming giant.

While the short trailer has already offered an insight into the dramatic content, the source has explained that some of the pair's comments are "fiery." The six-part series is understood to be being released in two parts, the first next Thursday (December 8) and the second on December 15.

“If aired, they will be absolutely explosive. The topic of racism is discussed — plus claims that some royals opposed the marriage. The whole TV project is very driven by Meghan.

“The narrative is that Harry had to be removed from his family, in which he felt neglected.

"Mental health features too, and discussion about Harry having therapy over the loss of his mother and his father’s relationship with Camilla.”

The one-minute trailer shows a series of black and white photographs and we can hear Harry say: "No one sees what’s happening behind closed doors… I had to do everything I could to protect my family".

Meghan then adds: "When the stakes were this high, doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us?"

The six-part series is understood to be being released in two parts, the first next Thursday (December 8), the three-month anniversary of the Queen's death.

The second will be released a week later on December 15, the day of The Princess of Wales' second carol concert at Westminster Abbey which will also serve as a memorial to the late Queen.

Speaking about the perception of the trailer, one palace source told the Daily Mail : "I don't see how anyone could view it as anything other than a declaration of war."

While another added: "None of this is a surprise", and that the timing of the trailer's release had not gone unnoticed by palace staff - making reference to how the announcement clashed with The Prince and Princess of Wales' important trip to the US for the Earthshot Prize.

The Netflix series will be available to watch before Prince Harry's memoir 'Spare' is released on January 10. The publishers said: “For Harry, this is his story at last. With its raw, unflinching honesty, Spare is a landmark publication full of insight, revelation, self-examination and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief.”

Prince Harry said: "I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become. I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story - the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned - I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think.

"I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned over the course of my life so far and excited for people to read a first-hand account of my life that’s accurate and wholly truthful."
