Meghan Markle pictured at 'Power of Women' event as Will and Kate land in US

Meghan Markle has been pictured as a guest at a "Power of Women" charity event where she spoke about the importance of encouraging young girls.

The Duchess of Sussex attended the fundraiser held by the Women's Fund of Central Indiana, in the Midwest as Prince William and Kate arrived in the United States ahead of his global environmental project - the Earthshot Prize awards.

The Prince and Princess of Wales will spend three days in Boston before the ceremony on Friday, handing out five £1million prizes to incredible winners all aiming to solve the world’s biggest environmental problems.

Meghan was speaking at "The Power of Women" event with Rabbi Sandy Sasso who is the first woman rabbi ordained by Judaism's Reconstructionist movement and is an acclaimed writer and community leader.

The pair talked about the importance of giving support to young girls to help them achieve their ambitions.

Guests at the sold-out event were banned from taking photos but friend of the Sussexes, Omid Scobie shared a few images on Twitter.

He also wrote: "Last night, Duchess Meghan took part in a moderated discussion focused on women's empowerment and supporting young girls with Rabbi @sandyesasso for an event supporting @womensfundindy."

Meghan wore an emerald-green Giorgio Armani midi dress, violet suede pumps from Manolo Blahnik, and an emerald-gold encrusted necklace by Logan Hollowell.

Among the replies to Mr Scobies' tweet several people said it had been an "uplifting discussion".

"The Duchess is a mother, feminist and champion of human rights.

"She is a lifelong advocate for women and girls, a constant thread she weaves through humanitarian and business ventures."

Tickets for the event cost a massive $500 per head, while entire tables cost $5,000.

It has not been revealed how much Meghan will have been paid for her appearance at the event but PR experts reportedly believe she could be earning up to £1million per speech in the United States.

The Women's Fund has previously hosted Michelle Obama, Brooke Shields, and Soledad O'Brien.
