Mohamed 'Afsha' Magdy and the Celtic transfer domino effect that could signal time up for Parkhead star

Former Celtic star Mark WIlson reckons interest in playmaker Mohamed 'Afsha' Magdy could signal that a Parkhead midfielder is set to leave the Scottish champions.

Ange Postecoglou has led his side to the top of the Scottish Premiership with the club enjoying nine-point lead over Rangers, but the Australian hasn't taken the winter break to rest up having secured Alistair Johnston as their potential replacement for Josip Juranovic as well as another defensive reinforcement in Yuki Kobayashi. The club also scouting a potential replacement for contract rebel Giorgos Giakoumakis with South Korea international Cho Gue-sun tipped with a move.

Al-Ahly playmaker Magdy is also reportedly on Celtic's radar as we approach the January window, and Wilson reckons that could mean someone will depart Glasgow's east end. Postecoglou warned fans last month that the player trading model would kickstart this winter, and Wilson reckons interest in the Egypt cap could signal a big money transfer.

Wilson told Clyde 1 Superscoreboard: "When I look at the position he players I think where does he fit in, but you could have said that about (Sead) Haksabanovic when he came in; that Celtic didn't need a player in that position. It might fit into the trading model that Ange warned everybody about.

"If you hear Celtic linked with players, or get close to signing players where they think they are over subscribed, perhaps one of the players that are currently occupying those positions might be quick to go out the door. Again, it shows that Ange Postecoglou is not one to sit still.

"He is always trying to bolster that squad and push people. I wouldn't be surprised if it happened."
