A lump of cliff moment falls into the sea along the charred Jurassic Coast

This is a shocking moment when a huge mass of cliffs crashes into the sea along the Jurassic Coast.

Visitors were horrified to see the rocks plunge towards Sidmas Beach in Devon, emitting a huge eruption of dust.

Part of the cliff continued to fall for hours afterwards, but thankfully there were no casualties reported.

Occurs shortly after another rockfall along the same coastline during the July heat wave when temperatures reached a staggering 40 ° C.

Geologists in the region have concluded that such events are caused by unseasonable hot and dry conditions that weaken the red sandstone cliffs.

Staffordshire Lee and Joanna Holt were on the beach when that happened.

Holt said: "My wife and I are early birds. I like exploring places before the town gets busy.

" When we found a small cloud of dust on the beach, we started walking on the promenade. And suddenly the cliff gave way.

"I didn't hear anything, but the sight was vast. Some of the cliffs are still giving way.'

Visitors are warned by the beach, the cliffs are unsafe and there to stay there.

Lifeguard Guy Russell said: "The fall of the cliff was very dangerous.

" If you were on the beach this morning, it would have been deadly. I More rocks are coming down the cliff as he talks to you.

'The important message to the general public is to pay attention to the signs and stay away from East Beach. .'
