Motherwell fans react to appointment of Stephen Hamel as club legend signs two-year deal

Motherwell's decision to appoint Stephen Hummel as the club's next permanent manager was met with much praise from Steelmen supporters.

The 40-year-old player became the 26th manager in the club's history this afternoon to sign a two-year contract alongside fellow former player Brian Carr. Hamel, who will replace Graham-Alexander at the helm, has proven to be a popular choice with nearly 600 appearances as a player after 17 years with Claret and Amber.

He has now stepped up from his role as Academy Director, coaching and leading every team the club has over the past five years.

And most of his fans on social media are looking forward to the Hall of Famer's performance while asking the board for support in the transfer market.

Hammell's first match as permanent manager took place on Saturday, with Steelmen heading to Pittodrie to face Aberdeen.

During his caretaker role, he scored a 1-0 win over St Mirren on the opening weekend of the Scottish Premiership season and a 2-1 win over St Johnstone at Farr Park last week.
