Mrs Hinch fans swear by £1.50 trick for banishing condensation from windowsills

As the winter months start to hit, people across the country are struggling to heat their homes through fear of racking up huge energy bills during the cost of living crisis.

It's vital to take the chill out of your property throughout the colder season, as without heat, the moisture that builds up in the air has nowhere to go, which can cause damp in your home.

Ventilation is also important, with many experts urging homeowners to crack open a window regularly - but when heating is as expensive to run as it is currently, many of us are hesitant to let the warmth out from our homes.

Many people are struggling with condensation on their windows and damp in their homes as a result, but thankfully, fans of Mrs Hinch - real name Sophie Hinchliffe - have come up trumps with another affordable tip to banish moisture in your property.

The cleaning sensation has garnered a huge and loyal fanbase, some of which have created a community online to share their own tips and tricks.

Posting to the Facebook group Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips, one woman put out a plea for advice on how to tackle condensation without spending a lot of money - a question many people have as the cost of living continues to rise.

Kathryn Deakin wrote: "How can I stop condensation with out it costing a fortune please" with a prayer hand emoji, and luckily Mrs Hinch fans had the answer.

One cleaning-savvy woman, named Beverly Ridout, replied to Kathryn's request with an picture of a Stamp Out The Damp dehumidifier from Clean Zone - a plastic tub filled with absorbent pellets that absorbs moisture from the air in your home.

She swears by the product, which you can pick up for £1.50 from Wilko, and many others have chimed in to sing its praises too - as they last a while and are an inexpensive way of tackling the problem.

Another fan of the cheap dehumidifier wrote: "These are really good even if there is only a little bit of dampness and not too expensive".

The Stamp Out The Damp tubs are far cheaper than electric dehumidifiers, but Mrs Hinch fans urged Kathryn to buy one for each room to keep the damp at bay.

Others suggested homemade remedies for condensation, including putting cat litter in a sock and sitting it on the windowsill. This unusual hack was described as 'magic' by one Facebook commenter.

Another tip was to put a cup of salt on the windowsill, as this helps to absorb moisture and should help to stop your windows from dripping with water.

One person wrote: "Salt in a bowl on windowsill it works, salt was damp next morning and windows dry".
