'My neighbours have 2 driveways but keep parking outside my house - it's driving me mad'

With all the nightmares that can come with parking your car on the side of the road, those of us with driveways that are able to park our cars in a guaranteed space each night are among the lucky few.

But one mum has been left infuriated with her neighbours, as despite having access to enough driveway space to park eight different vehicles, they seem insistent on parking their cars on the road - right in front of the woman's house.

The woman explained that her neighbours have two driveways on their own property and have also been granted permission to use the drives of two other houses on their street, giving them a total of four driveways to park on and enough room for eight cars.

However, her neighbours instead keep parking on the road opposite her house, which makes it difficult for her to get her camper van in and out of her own driveway.

She also claimed that the parking predicament makes it tricky for visitors to get out of her driveway, as her mum almost had an accident trying to pull out after a recent visit.

In a post on Reddit, she said: "[My neighbours are] absolutely taking the p**s. They have 2 drives of their own, and they use my next-door neighbour's and another neighbour's drive, so they have use of 4 drives - that's 8 parking spaces - and yet they constantly park on the Road opposite my drive!

"This means I can't actually get my camper on my front drive and have to use the back one, and they cause a nuisance with parking our car and for our visitors. My mum nearly reversed straight into the side of one of their cars the other night as she just couldn't see it on the dark street, and I looked around and every drive was empty!

"I don't want to cause issues as they're a nice family, and I don't want to be petty, but it's driving me mad! They're just so inconsiderate!"

Commenters on the post were quick to call the neighbours "thoughtless" for their parking decisions, but told the mum that she should just ask them to move their cars whenever she needs the space - in the hopes that eventually they'll use their driveways to avoid the hassle.

One person said: "Our neighbours do the same thing. It's infuriating. Have almost smashed into them numerous times because of their awkward inconsiderate parking."

While another added: "That all sounds really thoughtless. If a conversation could get them to change their ways, it would be worth it."

And a third suggested: "I would knock on their door every time you can't get one of your own vehicles in or out. Just be really friendly and smiley all the time when you ask them to move to let you out or in. They'll soon get fed up and park more thoughtfully, hopefully."
