New Coins Released So Far Featuring The Queen's Signature

New coins signed by the Queen for the first time.

Her £5 coin collection in silver is being minted as part of the ongoing celebrations of the Queen's Platinum Her Jubilee.

This is the first time in her seventy-year reign that a coin featuring the Queen's own handwriting has been created.

Collectors will likely get one as soon as it hits the market, but will have to pay much more than the face value to buy it.

Prices at Royal Mint range from her £13 for the standard version to the £2,865 'gold proof' edition.

Nicola Howell, Chief Commercial Officer of the Royal Mint, said:

"To celebrate Her Majesty's incredible reign, I am pleased to present for the first time a unique collection featuring her signature on all three coins.

} "As the Official Maker of British Coins, we are proud to mint each coin of Her Majesty's reign. This special collection pays tribute to her commitment to the Commonwealth, patronage and philanthropy.

The collection consists of three different coin designs, with the first design focusing on the Queen's awards and honors.

Another emphasizes the monarch's work as a charity or patron, and a third celebrates the Commonwealth.

This coin collection was designed by Irish artist and illustrator PJ Lynch.

He said of his design: She shakes hands often. It's how she welcomes and communicates with the people she meets.

"Her signature is so symbolic that I have come to see it as a state instrument in signing official documents, as well as her personal promise and commitment.
