The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed that by Friday, September 30 it had processed almost six million £150 disability cost of living payments to eligible claimants across the UK, worth around £900 million in total.
People who have not yet received the extra financial support should still do so by early October, however, DWP has now updated online guidance to enable them to report a missing £150 disability cost of living payment if they cannot see it in their bank, building society or credit union account.
DWP said there will be some cases - such as those who gained entitlement to this payment at a later date or where payments were rejected due to invalid account details - who will not be paid by the beginning of October. These will be paid automatically as soon as possible - report a missing payment here.
DWP started making the payments from September 20, however, due to some operational issues only a few scheduled payments were made with most landing in bank accounts between Monday, September 26 and Friday, September 30.
The one-off lump sum is being made automatically to those who had a confirmed payment of their disability benefit on May 25. It is aimed at helping disabled people with the rising cost of living, supporting them with higher costs they often face, such as care and mobility needs.
The £150 cost of living payments for disabled people from the UK Government are part of a £37 billion package of support, which will see millions of low income households receive at least £1,200 this year to help cover rising costs.
This also follows the Prime Minister’s recent announcement of a new £2,500 Energy Price Guarantee, which will replace Ofgem’s energy price cap until 2024 and is expected to save households on the standard tariff with average usage, around £1,000 a year on their energy bills.
£150 if you get certain disability benefits
You may get a lump sum payment of £150 if you’re getting any level of award for one of the following:
- Attendance Allowance
- Constant Attendance Allowance
- Disability Living Allowance for adults
- Disability Living Allowance for children
- Personal Independence Payment
- Adult Disability Payment
- Child Disability Payment
- Armed Forces Independence Payment
- War Pension Mobility Supplement
Eligibility
You must have received a payment (or later receive a payment) of one of these qualifying benefits for May 25, 2022 to get the £150 payment.
If you get a qualifying disability benefit from the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and a qualifying disability benefit from DWP, you will get a Disability Cost of Living Payment from DWP only.

It's also worth noting that no date for the second means-tested cost of living payment has been announced yet, other than sometime in the "autumn" - dates being shared on social media are just speculation, DWP will issue an update in due course.
For those in receipt of Tax Credits only, this payment will be made sometime this winter.
