Megabus overturned and crashed inNew Jersey en route to Philadelphia, killing one, dozens a person was injured.

The bus was traveling south when it capsized on the entrance ramp of the New Jersey Turnpike on Tuesday, New Jersey State Police said. Megabus reportedly told local news outlets that the bus overturned and had 19 passengers and a driver on board. The Independent has reached out to the coach company for further comment. 

The clash left him one dead and five seriously injured, according to the state police. Dozens more are believed to have suffered minor injuries.

Videos andimages posted on social mediashow multiple people with scrapes and other minor injuries, with him being the only witness. passenger said he remained trapped for more than 25 minutes.

"In the end, I was one of the first to appear on the scene," he tweeted, an eyewitness Gary Lee Fortner. "We took these (photos and video) after getting as many people off the bus as possible." Outside roads were closed.

CBS New York reported Wednesday morning that the road had been reopened and the wreckage cleared, although an investigation is ongoing.

It was unclear what caused the bus to hit the railing and capsize.
