Piers Morgan clash sees Question Time in shouting chaos as Fiona Bruce struggles to cut in

Piers Morgan made an explosive return to Question Time on Thursday evening as the TV presenter took his controversial opinions to the BBC panel.

The former Good Morning Britain host joined the panel in London just days after Prime Minister Liz Truss ditched plans to cut the 45p tax rate.

After Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng confirmed the dramatic Tory U-turn in a now viral tweet on Monday morning, Piers took to Twitter to add fuel to the fire as he announced his return to the BBC show.

As the pound quickly rises against the dollar amid the Tory U-turn, Piers teased: “A good week to make my return to BBC Question Time…”

Succession star Brian Cox, businessman Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones, Labour MP Lisa Nancy and Tory Nadhim Zahawi joined Piers on the panel on Thursday alongside host of the long-running show Fiona Bruce.

The lively discussion was filmed in a Westminster studio and quickly saw Zahawi and Piers at odds over the government’s highly controversial ‘mini-budget’.

Piers said: “With respect, in the last ten days of the monumental c***-up you did with this mini-budget, I’ve so far heard people blame the Queen’s funeral for what happened, you’re now blaming Vladimir Putin.

“I’m saying to you it’s simpler than that. Your mini-budget caused the chaos.”

Hitting back, Zahawi said: “Do you not think Vladimir Putin is using energy as a tool?,” as host Fiona tried to cut in, putting her hands up between the pair.

She insisted: “No, you’ve made that point,” as Zahawi pressed on saying: “Countries around the world, bankers are having to increase interest rates.”

As Fiona tried to quieten the pair, Piers hit back: “Because of your mini budget!”

Fiona finally regained control of the programme, as she said: “Both of you. You’ve both made your points. You’re now repeating them. Fascinating as though they are. There’s a forest of hands here.”

Ahead of his return to Question Time, fans of the Marmite TV presenter shared their excitement about seeing Piers on the BBC programme.

"You're not going to hold back and I can't wait to see it all unfold," one fan tweeted.

"Piers Morgan is returning to Question Time as Liz Truss once again proves that she's not fit to be the Prime Minister. I cannot wait," another echoed.

While a third enthused: "Question Time needs Piers on a permanent basis."
