Plymouth shooting: Family 'still struggling to come to terms' over murder eve of anniversary

In a statement released by Devon Police and Cornwall Police, his family said: We are still with other family members and survivors as we move forward to an inquest in January.

"My grandchildren miss him because they miss his fun, games and tickling sessions.

" We know that we support each other as a family, and we would like to ask the media to leave us alone at this time so that we can focus on the inquest.

Thank you.”

Davison, 22, serially murdered his mother, Maxine, 51, then shot and killed four others, including Mr. Washington, in a 12-minute assault.

Also deceased were 3-year-old Sophie Martin, her father Lee, 43, and Kate Shepard, 66.

Plymouth will celebrate its anniversary with a civic ceremony at St. Andrew's Cathedral and an all-night vigil for the Keeham community in North Down Crescent Park.

The killing took place several weeks after the shotguns and licenses were returned by Devon and Cornwall police. They were impounded after Davison assaulted two teenagers in a park.

Independent Police Action Service (IOPC) is investigating police approval of his application and the decision to return him his license and shotgun.

In the wake of the shooting, theInterior Ministry announced that police must check a person's medical history before issuing a gun license.

All firearms applications must be accompanied by medical documentation signed by a registered practitioner.
