A French woman survived a polar bear attack on a remote Norwegian island.
The unidentified tourist was part of her group of 25 who were camping early this morning at her Sveasletta in central Svalbard.
Chief Superintendent Stein Olaf Bredri said the victim was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Longyearbyen.
Her injuries were not life-threatening, but authorities did not release further details.
"A French woman suffered an injury to her arm," Bledri added. "She was fired upon at a polar bear, but she was frightened and left the area."
