A devastating series of explosions at an air force base last week destroyed 20 jets and caused £1 billion in damage.

Two people were injured when a Russian ammunition depot burst into flames on Tuesday.

Ukrainian military intelligence claimed that the movement of military equipment was in direct response to the blast.

Explosions at temporarily occupied military infrastructure in Crimea, including Saki and Gvaldiske airfields. According to

Ukraine, three Su-34s, five Su-27s and three other of his aircraft returned to Russia from Berbek airfield in Crimea.

They also claimed that six Ka-27 helicopters and eight others of his had also escaped from the airfield.

Russia is also believed to have lost at least 10 fighters in the attack on Saki Airfield last Tuesday.

The attack on Crimea demonstrated Russia's vulnerability and Ukraine's ability to attack territory controlled by Moscow.
