Rocksalt Rooms, Folkestone, review

With just four bedrooms, Rocksalt Rooms is one of the best boltholes in Folkestone.

But what is the food like and how comfy are the beds? Read on to find out.

Where are the Rocksalt Rooms?

The stylish bedrooms are slap bang on Folkestone's peaceful harbour, in Kent.

There's no on site car park, although there is street park nearby and the train station is just under twenty minutes walk away.

What are the Rocksalt Rooms like?

Tucked away behind the popular Rocksalt restaurant, these "boutique boltholes" are completely unique.

They're a continuation of the restaurant - quaint interiors are fitting for an old seaside town, with exposed brick walls and wrought-iron beds, but each still feels modern and fresh.

What is there to do at Rocksalt Rooms?

There's not much other than beds and showers in the rooms, but you have the whole of Folkestone at your fingertips.

You'll be in the middle of town, so can head to the arty Creative Quarter, with local shops selling everything from gifts and decorations to vinyls and vintage clothing.

What is there to eat and drink at Rocksalt Rooms?

You’d be a fool not to eat at the Rocksalt restaurant, which has some of the best seafood in Folkestone.

The celeriac soup starter, with hazelnut, apple and truffle, is a highlight.

It’s hard to choose from the seasonal menu, with delicious chilli prawns with kimchi mayo, herb-crusted cod or the rich baked mussels.

Don’t worry if you aren’t a fish fan – there are meat options such as pork chops and steak, as well as vegetarian dishes.

If you can fit it in, finish it off with a dessert such as the plum frangipane tart for a sweet end to the meal.

Make the most of the top floor bar too which has happy hour every Friday with 25 per cent off drinks.

What are the rooms like at Rocksalt Rooms?

Each has a double bed or king-size, as well as Nespresso machines and complimentary toiletries.

Breakfast is included at the restaurant across the road.
