Royals won't engage in 'tit for tat battle' with Harry and Meghan over Netflix series

The Royal Family will not be engaging in a "tit for tattle" battle with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle over their explosive documentary, which launched on Netflix on Thursday.

Insiders told The Mirror that King Charles and Prince William won't be responding to any claims made by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in the six-episode series - instead keeping a "dignified silence".

The first three instalments saw Harry and Meghan criticise their treatment by "The Firm", but the monarch and the Prince of Wales have vowed to continue with "business as usual".

A Royal commentator, however, believes King Charles could "punish" the pair by banning them from his coronation over the fallout.

Richard Fitzwilliams said the family's solution could be to "cut all ties" from Harry and Meghan, which would include keeping them away from Charles' crowning ceremony.

He added: "The only thing they can do is not invite them to the coronation, and cut all ties - a clean cut from the Sussexes. Essentially, that's all they can do."

The new king is set to be crowned alongside The Queen Consort in a ceremony on May 6, 2023.

Further warnings that Harry and Meghan might not be invited come as The Mirror's Royal Editor, Russell Myers, reported that members of the family believe there is "no way back" for the couple after their Netflix series.

In the second episode of the documentary, Harry claimed that the Royal Family said the abuse Meghan faced after their relationship went public was a "rite of passage" because other women joining the family had experienced it too.

But he said that the backlash Meghan received was different due to the "race element" and that the Palace allegedly told them "don't say anything".
