Lanark Racecourse Rural Business Center Approved

South Lanarkshire County Council has approved plans to build a rural development center at Lanark Racecourse.

Trustees of the Community and Corporate Resources Board meeting approved the proposal for a Rural Development Center at Lanark Racecourse, subject to Common Good consultation.

Funding was originally provided by the Scottish Government's Renewable Capital Grants Fund (RCGF) for the derelict site of Ladyacre Road Lanark.

Although unsuccessful, an opportunity was found at Lanark Racecourse, where the building was demolished.

Trustee Robert Brown, Chair of the Council's Community and Corporate Resources Committee, said:

"Therefore, I am pleased that the Commission has agreed to implement this proposal. I look forward to its progress and the great opportunity it provides for all."

The Scottish Government will now use £800,000 of RCGF to fund projects in new locations.

The proposal now sees the creation of a Lanimar shed and a rural business center with parking permitted for occupied organizations.

In addition to this, the project created four full-time construction jobs for him, 14 existing positions are supported. Within Healthy Valleys will be 200 supported training locations for volunteer and community groups focused on health and well-being, 250 sqm of new business space, 500 sqm of storage space for the Lanner Kranymer Board, and offices and two community facilities created by Business Space. community shed.

Trustee approval will be followed by consent from stakeholders such as the Lanark Lanimer Commission and Healthy Valleys.

As the proposed site is part of the Lanark Public Interest, a process of consultation with the community is underway to meet the requirements of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015.
