Ryanair boss: €10 fares gone due to higher fuel prices

Ryanair's trademark €1 and €10 fares won't be seen for 'years' due to high fuel prices, budget airline boss says .

In an interview on BBC Radio 4's Today programme, Michael O'Leary said Ryanair's average fare will increase from about €40 (£33.75) last year to about €10 over the next five years. He said he expects it to rise. By 2027 he will have 50 euros.

He told the station: – I don't think we will see these fares for years to come.

Airlines While the prices that are impacting fares on the airline are also taking a toll on people's disposable incomes, O'Leary is confident that customer numbers will remain stable.

Instead, travelers believe they will flock to low-cost alternatives such as Ryanair and EasyJet.

"I think people will continue to fly more often," he said.

"But I think people will become more price sensitive. So my view of life is that people trade in millions."
