Shocking footage shows drug-fuelled man battering his van against police car

Shocking footage captured the moment an intoxicated van driver battered his vehicle against a police car. Dino Price, 22, targeted the cop car in an attempt to move it after officers flagged him down for speeding.

The druf-fuelled driver ignored cops who ordered him to stop his vehicle, while he was driving along the A472 in Hafodyrynys in Caerphilly on August 30. The dangerous driver was doing high speeds of 80mph through residential streets when he was engaged by police, Wales Online reports.

Price was being closely followed by an unmarked police car when he drove into a dead end street in the village of Cwm in Ebbw Vale. He then deliberately reversed his Ford Transit into the car at a high speed and repeatedly rammed his vehicle into it in an attempt to gain access to a side road.

The officers in attendance at the scene "feared for their lives" but neither were hurt as they had fortunately already left the police car. Police tried to taser the Price, who caused more than £40,000 worth of damage behind the wheel, but failed to stop him,

Cardiff Crown Court heard at a sentencing hearing that the stun gun didn't affect Price, who continued to ram into the police vehicle. The 22-year-old also caused damage to an Audi and a Ford Ka parked in the street during the incident.

Prosecutor Gareth James said: "Both officers feared for their lives, had they not got out of the car they could have been seriously injured. One of the officers said they feel lucky to escape with a sore wrist while trying to open the van door."

Price, of Shirenewton Site, Wentloog Road, Rumney, Cardiff, wrote off the police car after causing a total of £40,000 worth of damage to the vehicle, as well as damage to two other cars and a garage door.

During a police interview, he denied the offences but went on to later plead guilty to criminal damage, dangerous driving, affray and driving without a licence and insurance.

Price was subsequently handed a 12-month prison sentence by Recorder Carl Harrison, who told the defendant that he was unable to pass a suspended sentence. The 22-year-old was also disqualified from driving for three years and three months.
