Sir David Attenborough announces spectacular TV return for new BBC series

SIR David Attenborough has launched an all-new nature series exploring the diverse landscapes of the UK. 

Beloved broadcaster and conservationist returns to BBC. The new TV series is tentatively titled Wild Isles. 

This five-part documentary series explores the more familiar natural environment, focusing on the diverse landscapes of Britain and Ireland. 

It follows the success of previous documentary series such as Blue Planet, Planet Earth,Our Planetand Frozen Planet.

A BBC press statement confirmed that 96-year-old Sir David and his dedicated film crew have spent the past three years researching flora and fauna across Britain.

In The Wild Isles, he celebrates his four important habitats in Britain: forest, grassland, freshwater and marine.

Puffins of NorthumberlandBluefin tuna off Cornwall and "Honeybees on broomsticks in Dorset."

This The series is shot in 4K resolution and features time-lapse photography that documents changes in the natural world.

Regarding future series, Attenborough said:

"The British Isles have not only astonishing scenery, but extraordinary animal drama and wildlife spectacles, comparable to all I have seen in my travels around the world.

Wild Isles is produced by Silverback Films in partnership with The Open University, the Royal Ornithological Society and the World Wildlife Fund.

The show's executive his producer, Alastair Fothergill, said in a statement about the series: People will be amazed at what's happening right next to their home.

Jack Bootle, BBC Science and Natural History Commissioning Officer, added: Believe it.

"You would think the meadows of Somerset were as beautiful as the Serengeti, and the North Atlantic as wild and dramatic as the Southern Ocean."

Wild Isles will air on BBC One and iPlayer and is scheduled to launch in Spring 2023.
