Southwark Fires: London rail service interrupted as 70 firefighters tackle huge fire near railroad

Train services to London's main stations were severely disrupted on Wednesday morning after a massive fire broke out near a railway arch.

Approximately 70 firefighters and his 10 fire engines were dispatched to deal with the fire near Union Street inSouthwark. Footage from the scene shows a large cloud of thick black smoke billowing into the air where the flames originated.

The London Fire Brigade said the fire was producing "a lot of smoke" and people living nearby were advised to keep windows and doors closed  .

According to the service, there have been over 30 calls from concerned parties, the first of which was around 9:30 am. Some buildings have been evacuated.

Network Rail said trains to and fromLondon Bridge station were affected by the fire.

The railway operator said in a statement:

``The London Fire Brigade has several pumps on site and has closed the railroad until it is safe to do so.''

``We are working with the London Fire Brigade. Thank you for your patience."

Train operators Southeastern announced that all crossings of London Bridge would be canceled due to the fire. He said Root was in "serious turmoil".

A spokesperson wrote on Twitter:

"Trains have been diverted to other London terminals or stopped elsewhere."

LFB station commander Wayne Johnson at the scene said: told to 46} "Trains to and from London Bridge were affected and several buildings were evacuated."
