Motherwell's Stephen Hamel takes transfer vows as new boss reveals pre-appointment preparations

Stephen Hummel has vowed to enter the transfer market soon after being appointed boss ofMotherwell.

At the age of 40, Hammell was named the successor to Graham Alexander and as assistant Brian Kerr he signed a two-year deal. He was promoted from director of the academy to full-time, almost two weeks before he won the race to become the 26th director.

As a Steelmen player he played for 17 years, his Fir Park Hall of Famer began making transfer plans during the substitute period in case he got a nod. Hammell said: There are some very talented players in this group and it's my job now to get the best out of them. I have first-hand knowledge of the club's exciting young players and will integrate them into the first-team environment when they are ready. Additionally, players need some help with some new faces.

I'm busy identifying, so one of my first tasks is to enhance options in a few areas where I see short-term needs.

"Especially At this stage of the season, it's been very difficult on the hiring side.But we're further along than where we are and we're not starting today."

Hamel said Saturday's Premiership vs Aberdeen started as full-time boss at Pittodrie, adding: of this wonderful club.

"Over the past two weeks, I have become even more motivated. I have the determination and ambition to lead this team and leave my mark. I will continue to deliver my message and entertain the supporters." I hope I can provide a team and a team that will give it their all.”
