Teachers union rejects 'unacceptable' Tory salary offer

NASUWT trade union teachers rejected the Tory government's latest salary proposal, warning it would further exacerbate already plummeting morale across the sector.

More than two-thirds of his teachers in England and Wales said they were 'against or angry' about his proposed award from 2022 to 2023 for education unions. According to the latest research, only 5%.

The majority — 78 per cent in Wales and 72 per cent in England — said that "inappropriate and unacceptable" proposals should be rejected.

Education unions have repeatedly warned of a nationwide strike vote this fall amid stagnant real wages and soaring prices.

Dr. Patrick Roach, General Secretary of NASUWT, said the latest proposal was "further cuts in teachers' salaries that further undermine morale.

“Again, I am calling on ministers to go around the table to find a solution.

Nearly 9,000 teachers in England responded to the union's poll , compared to nearly 700 in Wales.
