Teenager charged over huge blaze at derelict building on Scots high street

A teenager has been arrested and charged after a huge inferno broke out at a derelict building in a Scots town.

Firefighters raced to the incident on Leven's High Street in Fife at 10pm on Friday, November 25. Six fire engines and a height vehicle were dispatched to the incident at the height of the blaze as crews worked overnight to put the flames out.

Officers investigating the fire have confirmed a 17-year-old has been arrested in connection. He will be reported to the procurator fiscal in due course.

Inquiries into the fire remain ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police in Fife have arrested and charged a 17-year-old man in connection with a fire in Leven, which took place on Friday, November 25. The fire was reported from a derelict building in the High Street area, around 10pm.

"The man will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in due course and further inquiries into the incident remain ongoing."
