Tesco issues urgent recall on popular chocolate bar

'HEALTH RISK'

SUPERMARKET giant Tesco is urging customers to return some of its chocolate bars over health fears.

The grocer is recalling 80g pack sizes of Happi Free From Oat M!lk bars, which contain milk.

The Plain M!lk, Salted Caramel and Plain White flavours are all impacted.

The Food Standards Agency, which regulates food providers, said the products were a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk.

A Happi Free From company notice added: "If you have bought an affected product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, please don't eat it.

"Instead return it to a Tesco store for a refund. No receipt is required."

The products impacted are:

  • Plain M!lk, pack size 80g, best before October 2023
  • Salted Caramel, pack size 80g, best before October 2023
  • Plain White, pack size 80g, best before June 2023

It's not the first time Tesco has issued a recall on some of its products.

In May, the supermarket giant recalled chicken products and axed items from its menus over food poisoning fears.

In April, the grocer asked customers to bring back packs of biscuits that possibly contained pieces of metal.

Other supermarkets and retailers have had to warn customers about dangerous products in recent months as well.

German grocer Aldi issued an urgent recall of its Bramwells Tartare Sauce following a packaging error.

And in August, high-street shop Primark warned parents not to feed their children from a Disney-themed plate containing lead and formaldehyde.

Products are sometimes recalled or "withdrawn" from shop shelves if there is a risk to consumers in any way.

Supermarkets normally tell customers to bring products back for a refund.
