Thailand shooting: At least 31 people killed including kids in attack at day care centre

At least 31 people have been killed by a former policeman in a mass shooting at a children's nursery in northern Thailand, police say

There are children and adults among the casualties at the day care centre in Nong Bua Lamphu and the suspected gunman has killed himself.

A large-scale manhunt was underway for 34-year-old Panya Khamrab before he turned the gun on himself, Thai media has reported.

At around 15:00 local time (9 am GMT) there was a report that the perpetrator shot himself and killed three children with his wife.

Mr Khamrab escaped in a white Vigo pickup truck with a Bangkok registration and as he rushed away from the scene the front bumper fell off, Thai Tiger reports.

Reports say that the alleged murderer was sacked from his position in the police force last year for failing a drugs test.

Mr Juti Krairiksh, Minister of Social Development and Human Security, has ordered officials from the local area to provide urgent aftercare to all shooting victims and their family members.
