A plane crash inMarion County, West Virginiakilled three people, local officials said.
Sheriff Jimmy Riffle told his WV His News that a plane crashed Thursday night in the Mannington/Metz area of Marion County.
He said three casualties had been confirmed and details were being investigated by field responders.
"People are on the scene," Mr. Riffle was quoted as saying.
"They are trying to figure out and figure out the size of the crash site."
Officials added that no information was available on the plane's size or destination.
A 911 official said the crash occurred shortly after 7 p.m., with a small plane crashing near the community of Metz, he reported 12 News.
All six of his passengers were killed when a Vietnam War-era helicopter crashed into a West Virginia highway in June, according to Logan County officials.
